Asom Gana Parishad has decided to go in supreme Court against CAB bill 2019. BJP Ally Asom Gana Parishad party were supporting Citizenship amendment Bill 2019 few days ago, but after looking recent condition they have decided to go in supreme Court against Citizenship amendment Bill 2019.       Last week,the central government amended the citizenship law. The amendment is opposed to this law. Seven states, including Assam, Mizoram,Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim have seen fury against the law and violence has erupted. It's effects are still unfolding.  Meanwhile protests are continuing in Assam against the law . Two people were injured in police firing on Friday to disperse the crowd . He died and the death toll has risen to five . The names of the deceased are Ishwar Naik and Abdul Alam . What is Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019? The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019, that seeks to give Indian nationality to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, was passed by the Lok Sabha earlier this week. The Bill seeks to amend the definition of illegal immigrant for Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist and Christian immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who have lived in India without documentation. They will be granted fast-track Indian citizenship in six years. So far, 12 years of residence has been the standard eligibility requirement for naturalisation How will the bill benefit refugees? The Bill says that on acquiring citizenship: (i) such persons shall be deemed to be citizens of India from the date of their entry into India, and (ii) all legal proceedings against them in respect of their illegal migration or citizenship will be closed.
